When it comes to transporting passengers, goods and ideas all over the world, airports are key. And HOCHTIEF provides for a smooth take-off. With its wealth of experience gathered in more than 40 major airport projects, HOCHTIEF figure among the most renowned international players.
HOCHTIEF pools construction competence in the field of air traffic. We handle all types of projects - from greenfield airports through to extension and conversion works on active airports. We take over design, financing, construction, commissioning as well as operation and management, and develop made-to-measure solutions for your projects.
Carrying out modernization works on an active airport means, for example, that cranes must be positioned in places where they do not obstruct the view from the tower. Heavy construction plant and equipment must not interfere with the sensitive measuring and communication instruments of airport control. And sometimes only a few hours are available for works on the runway.
For airport company MASH, HOCHTIEF Russia built Terminal C at Sheremetyevo International Airport near the capital Moscow in 2006. The terminal covers a floor area of 40,000 square meters.
In June 2008 we handed over to Aeroexpress the railway station near Terminal 2 at Sheremetyevo International Airport which we are extending and modernizing for airport company MASH.
Project - Vladivostok International Airport Terminal Building
Location - Vladivostok
The construction of the Terminal is currently planned to be executed in three phases to accommodate
expected traffic growth more organically. The first phase of Terminal construction (“Phase One”) will allow
annual throughput of up to 3.5 million passengers, and is currently designed to comprise c. 55,000 square
meters of total area. Phase One is to be completed in the second half of 2011, so that the Terminal is fully
operational for APEC.
The terminal building size is based on an IATA Level of Service C. The year 2012 design is for 1360 (2 way) peak hour passengers for domestic and international passengers with a split 70% domestic and 30% international.
The location is a green field site adjacent to the existing South-East main runway.
The building is compact and has three floors with a basement. Within the building perimeter, there are two distinct zones, one for domestic passengers and the other for international passengers.
Vladivostok International Airport is located approximately 45 km north of the City of Vladivostok. It is located North-West of the City of Artem and West of the City of Knevichi

Organisation of the Terminal Building
The Terminal Building is an expression of the efficient and compact routing structures through the building designed for both departing and arriving passengers at Vladivostok.
The Terminal Building is essentially a compact core over 3 levels which is surrounded by large open concourse areas, the resultant structure is then enclosed by an insulated envelope.
The organization of the Terminal Building is (roughly) as follows:
within the terminal:
- the basement contains plant rooms, storerooms and staff facilities;
- level 1 houses the baggage handling, baggage reclaim and welcomer’s and well-wishers hall;
- on level 2 are the check-in facilities and baggage screening;
- level 3 houses the passport and security facilities, retail areas, departure lounges and the business / first class lounges.
-
within the concourse:
- level 1 houses plant rooms and bus gates;
- on level 2 is the arrival concourse and transfer counters;
- level 3 houses the departure concourse;
- level 4 houses VIP facilities.
