Railway Station in Sheremetyevo International Airport

Within just twelve months, a new railway station constructed by HOCHTIEF Russia  appeared in Sheremetyevo airport. Following the first three weeks, 35000 guests have used Aeroexpress-trains to comfortably reach downtown Moscow from the airport. The trip lasts just 35 minutes and costs 7 to 10 Euros converted. In temporal and financial terms, Aeroexpress offers a much better alternative to a customary taxi ride which normally costs a tourist around 50 Euros converted and is attended by a never-ending traffic jam getting on your nerves.

The railway station symbolizes a train rushing forward. The project consists also of a 350 m long roof structure under which the trains arrive and depart, a practically feasible commercial realty with office spaces and conference-halls as well a 2-storey car park for about 500 cars. To make the roof thinner, a polycarbonate coating, somewhat resembling plexiglass, has been preferred to a heavy steel structure, which also optimized the costs.

The railway station is eco-friendly, too: the approaching roads are relieved of vehicles and less traffic jams occur which affect adversely the environment in Moscow and in the neighborhood.
