2006 HOCHTIEF Construction AG scored another success in Eastern Europe: In Moscow, the company planned and built the new Terminal C at Sheremetyevo Airport. The client is the airport company MASH. The project has been realized on the basis of the PreFair model. This partnership-based contract model provided for close cooperation with both client and architect as early as in the planning phase.
The general contractor assignment included the construction of an approximately 40,000-square-meter terminal building complete with baggage handling and check-in facilities. The contract also comprised a three-story garage with approximately 800 parking spaces and a Sky Walk between the two facilities.
The Terminal was built in record short time - 12 months. For the first time in Russia, an air terminal implemented a 100-percent three-level baggage control system meeting all ICAO requirements and Federal Aviation Regulations.
HOCHTIEF had already supported airport company Mash under a PreFair contract during the planning phase for the modernization of Terminal 2. The new project success and long years of experience in the field of airport construction provided the company with a good starting position for the additional construction work which is now under way at Moscow Airport.
